Illustrative image. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo still plans to run classes year-round, but not as soon as it wanted. President Jeffrey Armstrong told the Academic Senate on Oct. 28 that the university will hold off on the new calendar until summer 2029, The Tribune reports. The plan had been to start the transition in summer 2027. The delay follows a letter signed by 1,267 students, faculty and staff who said the process was rushed and the reasons for it weren't explained. A campus survey found 67% strongly opposed the change. The plan calls for three 15-week semesters a year. Source: [San Luis Obispo Tribune](https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/education/cal-poly-university/article317703034.html) (Oct. 31, 2026).
