Arkansas' musical heritage now has a permanent home just across the river. The atg Pavilion at Argenta Plaza in North Little Rock is open to the public. Its centerpiece is an 8-foot bronze of Johnny Cash by Arkansas sculptor Kevin Kresse, a twin of the statue recently installed in the National Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol, KARK reports. The pavilion will honor 21 Arkansas musicians in all, from Delight's Glen Campbell and Cotton Plant's Sister Rosetta Tharpe to Forrest City's Al Green, Marvell's Levon Helm and Brinkley's Louis Jordan. Little Rock's own Florence Price and William Grant Still are on the list too. Relatives of the honorees turned out for the opening. Glen Campbell's niece, Angela Frazier, told KARK it was amazing to see so much talent from such a small state recognized in one place. The free, open-air attraction is designed as a music-tourism draw, with companion sculptures planned for each artist's hometown.
