Illustrative image. Sundance's first Boulder festival is starting to take shape. The Sundance Institute has named the first films for its January 2027 festival, the Denver Gazette reports. The first announcement is the Legacy program, which revisits standout titles from Sundance's history. It includes Better Luck Tomorrow, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Fool's Fire, Nitrate Kisses, Real Women Have Curves, Swoon and Y tu mamá también, plus a two-part Cinema Interruptus session on Christopher Nolan's Memento. Letterboxd will co-present the Legacy program. Festival director Eugene Hernandez is leading Sundance into its first Boulder edition. The festival runs Jan. 21-31, 2027, with Legacy screenings Jan. 27-31. Single tickets ($37) go on sale Jan. 8, and the top express pass runs $7,500.
