If you see smoke south of town this month, it's likely planned. The City of Boulder will run prescribed burns on open space south of Eldorado Springs Drive and west of Highway 93 in November, weather and resources permitting.

The burns are meant to reduce wildfire risk, according to the city's announcement published by Yellow Scene Magazine.

Residents are asked not to call 911 about smoke from these planned burns.

For day-of notices, text CitySafe to 888777. The burns are part of the city's Wildfire Ready Initiative.
