Illustrative image. Nurses at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital are heading back to the negotiating table after walking off the job for two days last week. The Staff Nurses Association, which represents 795 registered nurses at the hospital, struck on Oct. 27 and 28 after 98% of members voted to authorize the action. Two bargaining sessions are now on the calendar for November, and a federal mediator will take part, union president Peter Brackner told The Press Democrat. The nurses' previous contract expired Sept. 30. The union also filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the National Labor Relations Board on Oct. 1. Both sides now return to the table with a mediator in the room. Source: [The Press Democrat](https://www.pressdemocrat.com/2026/11/02/providence-nurses-resume-contract-negotiations/) (Nov. 2, 2026).
