A big decision for Little Rock families is on Thursday's agenda.

The Little Rock School District board is expected to vote on Oct. 15 on LRSD Forward, the administration's plan to close Western Hills, Mabelvale and McDermott elementary schools, the Arkansas Times reports.

The district estimates the three closures would save $4.7 million to $5.3 million a year. About 25% of district building space is unused as enrollment has declined.

Board members have been weighing where students would go, including Bale, Williams Magnet, Terry and Jefferson, and asked for revised boundary options and enrollment counts before the vote. Families with questions can follow the meeting and the district's updates.
