Red Rover Creamery's Last Scoop: October 31

Portsmouth is losing a sweet one.

Red Rover Creamery announced this week that it will close permanently, with its last day on October 31. Seven years, a pandemic survived, and a loyal following built one scoop at a time — and now the little shop is saying goodbye.

The owners aren't rushing anyone out the door. Their farewell letter gives the whole town the entire month of October to come in for one last cone. That's a classy exit: no abrupt locked doors, just a long goodbye and a calendar full of last visits.

There's something about a beloved local spot announcing its final month that concentrates the mind. Every ordinary Tuesday becomes a small occasion. Every flavor becomes a favorite.

Go get the scoop before Halloween. You'll be glad you did.

Seven years, one pandemic, countless cones. That's a legacy worth one more visit.
