Mark the calendar: candy runs Friday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The City of Portsmouth has set trick-or-treat hours for 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, and police are reminding drivers to watch for small witches and superheroes that evening.

Before then, the Portsmouth Public Library at 175 Parrott Ave. is screening Hocus Pocus (1993) on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome and light refreshments are provided. The library's children's costume swap also runs through Oct. 29.

The independently organized Portsmouth Halloween Parade steps off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Check PortsmouthHalloweenParade.org for parking and road closures.
