# Little Rock's Greek Food Festival Hits 40 With Free Gyros Energy (and Free Parking)

Forty years of baklava. Forty years of gyros. Forty years of Little Rock lining up for a taste of Greece — and this weekend, the anniversary party tasted even sweeter.

The **International Greek Food Festival** returned to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on **Friday, Oct. 2**, and kept the plates spinning through Saturday, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Hours both days: **11 a.m. to 8 p.m.**

On the menu: the greatest hits — gyros, souvlaki, baklava and handmade pastries — plus commercial vendors and festival merch making a comeback for the big 4-0. Between bites, the stage stayed busy with traditional Greek dances from adults and kids, ballet performances and even tae kwon do demos.

Julie Atkins, who's been coming for more than 20 years with her goddaughter Katherine Modlin, told the Democrat-Gazette they usually order the same thing — "but this year we're excited to experiment with some new foods." Modlin's favorite part? Watching the little kids nail the traditional dances.

Staffer Kreta Dillon put the vibe simply: the community shows up, and the festival gets to talk with them. "It's fantastic," she said.

Best of all for your wallet: admission, parking and trolley service to the festival are free. Food, games and T-shirts cost tickets. That's 40 years of Little Rock doing Greek night right.
