Burlington wants to make it a little faster to build in the city.
The city has started applying for Tier 1A status, a designation that could exempt some development from Act 250 review, WCAX reports.
City officials say Burlington's own regulations are already nearly identical to the Tier 1A requirements, so the exemption could speed up the permitting process for developers.
The application goes through a monthslong review by the state's Land Use Review Board. City staff say it could be approved by early next year.
