The bridge meant to stitch east and west Bend together is almost ready for its close-up.

The City of Bend and ODOT will share the final design of the Hawthorne Overcrossing, a planned $33 million bike and pedestrian bridge over U.S. Highway 97 at Hawthorne Avenue, at an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Open Space Event Studios, the Source Weekly reports.

An online open house launches the same day and stays up on ODOT's website until Nov. 3.

Design work continues into 2027, construction is planned to start that fall, and the bridge is expected to be finished in fall 2028.
