Belmont Grill Is Growing on Poplar

Some Memphis institutions don't just endure — they expand.

The new owner of the Belmont Grill building has picked up the property next door on Poplar Avenue, the building that's home to Miestro, the home theater shop. Jeff Dawson, buying through Nacks Properties LLC, now controls a bigger slice of one of the city's most storied commercial corners.

Belmont Grill has been a Memphis staple for generations — the kind of place where the burger tastes like memory and the regulars have their own gravitational pull. Growth like this doesn't happen by accident. It happens when a place is doing something right and decides to bet bigger on the block it helped define.

What comes next for the extra square footage is still to be seen, but the signal is clear: the people investing in Memphis believe in Memphis. And when a landmark doubles down on Poplar, the whole street feels it.

Watch this corner. Something's cooking — and it isn't just the burgers.
