You don't need a seat at COTA to get in on Grand Prix week. Some of the best F1 fun in Austin this week is free and right downtown.
The Atlassian Williams F1 Team Fan Zone is back at 800 Congress Ave. for a fifth straight year, according to the team. It is open daily through Saturday, Oct. 24: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Wednesday, then 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Entry is free, but you need to register for a free Williams ID in the team's app before you arrive.
Over on the east side, Red Bull Austin Race Nights runs Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 22-25, from 4 to 10 p.m. at 1501 E. 7th St., according to Red Bull. Expect driver appearances, a pit stop challenge, racing simulators and a replica F1 garage. All ages are welcome until 8 p.m., when it goes 18+.
Planning a full week of it? Make a night of it on Congress, then head east for Race Nights.
