Industry veteran strengthens strategic U.S. media expertise and knowledge at the events promotion engine
San Francisco, California. 21st January 2020 – Events promotion engine Evvnt Inc. has appointed Peter Newton, previously COO of Gatehouse Media and currently president of Big Rock Consulting Group and Managing Director of Accelerate Local at the Local Media Association (LMA), as chairman of its board of directors, effective immediately.
His appointment enhances Evvnt’s focus on further growing the network of publishers in the U.S. who, in turn, can benefit from generating revenue from the $18.2 billion events industry.
Throughout his career, Peter Newton has built innovative new business approaches in local media and digital companies: including taking Propel Marketing/ThriveHive from conception to $80 million in 6 years and developing the ground-breaking BostonWorks recruitment division at the Boston Globe.
Richard Green, CEO of Evvnt, says of Peter’s appointment:
“Evvnt is a winner when compared with other providers because we focus on revenue generation for publishers and never forget that event organisers always want to sell as many tickets and seats as possible. We always help every event succeed, it could be a bake sale or heavy metal concert, because we help them spread the word.
Peter understands that media companies desperately need to grow their revenues and income to survive. He has experience doing exactly that in numerous businesses. He knows innovation and experimentation are key. And that is why he is the perfect fit to be Chairman of Evvnt: we offer a win-win-win for event organizers, publishers and event goers.
When I met Peter I knew immediately he understood the power and strength of Evvnt and its features when compared to other providers. His expertise and experience are rooted in local media and his connections will prove invaluable as we address the challenges faced by publishers to grow business revenues.
His appointment as chairman gives me great confidence in our vision and product market fit because we all want to put the heart back in to our local communities with local events.
Peter’s unique and deep knowledge of the media industry combined with his strategic experience will be vital as we take that message to local newspapers and TV and radio stations across the nation.”
Peter Newton says of his new role:
I’m always excited by innovation and especially the invention of new business models and that’s at the core of Evvnt. It solves multiple problems and serves distinct audiences. Firstly, event organizers and promoters can use Evvnt to sell out their event on our growing network of 4,600 publishers. Second, media publishers like newspapers and radio stations can monetize their audiences by building relevant and engaging content and promoting local events. And finally, we can help people find out what’s going on every day in their locality.
Evvnt provides event creators with the first comprehensive event promotion engine including ticketing and marketing in a single simple workflow. A crucial aspect of Evvnt’s 2020 vision is turbo-charging the Evvnt promotion network and taking the monetized event calendars to local and regional media outlets across the U.S. Peter’s experience is sure to drive confidence in to the heart of the publisher market who are actively looking for digital revenues and sizeable businesses opportunities from within their current product portfolios.
